Oriental Cut transcends physical and cultural borders by introducing
the best in the ethnic musical culture of the Middle East, and mixing
this with the innovative European world - hiphop culture.
The music is inspired by the ancient cultures that were once brought
together in Andalusia. This was a cultural golden age where Jews,
Christians and Arabs lived together in harmony - it was in essence
a cultural expansion which could be a major source of inspiration
to European culture today.
This CD includes the soundtrack for the music- and danceperformance
Oriental Cut. The performance Oriental Cut will emphasizes cultural
diversity, as well as the exchange and development of new forms
of cultural expression.
Participants in the performance are musicians and dancers from Denmark,
Sweden, England, Turkey, Spain, France, the Middle East and India.
The purpose is to show the abundance of cultural riches hidden in
the Middle East, and at the same time present the melting pot of
cultural relations in Europe today.
This musical meeting between ethnicity and modern European culture
creates a new perspective from which to view the coming together
of two worlds.
